ILLUMINA CAMBRIDGE FIREWORKS NIGHT

Over 20,000 people gathered at the weekend on historic Midsummer Common for the Illumina Fireworks Night, organised by Cambridge City Council.

The earlier heavy rain cleared for one of the city’s most popular annual events, and despite some technical difficulties, Saturday night’s display filled the sky with colour and light including some spectacular crescendos, created by environmentally committed company Pains whose displays are carbon neutral.

As a free event, Fireworks Night is a key city council event creating a valuable opportunity for thousands of people from different communities to get together. Event partner Star Radio broadcast from the event, leading the capacity crowd in the traditional countdown, with six-year-old Freddie Watson from Cambridge pressing the launch button!

Large numbers of people are anticipated, so please allow plenty of time for your journey, arrive early and wherever possible walk, cycle, or use public transport. Additional Park & Ride services will be available for the evening. The display begins at 7pm. For full details go to www.cambridgelive.org.uk/city-events/bonfire-night
