Spring Festival, widely known as Chinese New Year in the West, is one of the most important traditional festivals and celebrations for people not only in China but also in many other countries. Every year in Cambridge, the Chinese Students and Scholars Association in Cambridge (CSSA-CAM) host a magnificent Chinese New Year Gala at the Cambridge Corn Exchange. A magnificent Victorian venue built in the Florentine Gothic style, the Corn Exchange has played host to many of the world’s best known artists and events over the past 40 years, among which the Cambridge Chinese New Year Gala is one of the most loved. The Gala features unique Chinese traditional decorations and breath-taking performances as well as gorgeous stage and sound effects.
In recent years, the Gala has boasted world-class performers, including Sa Dingding, a famous Chinese folk singer, the King's College Choir, Lona Luvsanfroj, the professional ballet group from King Slocombe School of Dance, and Fred's House. The Gala also attracts mainstream media from the UK and China, including BBC, China Daily, Xinhua News and Sina.
