Conductor: Esa-Pekka Salonen
Horn Katy Woolley

Beethoven Overture, Namensfeier
Mozart Horn Concerto No. 4, K495
Beethoven Symphony No. 2

‘We’re delighted to be bringing our Principal Conductor, Esa-Pekka Salonen to Cambridge for the first time.  His take on core Classical repertoire is influenced by both European and American heritage as well as his own work as a composer.  This concert therefore promises fresh and exciting  accounts of Beethoven’s Namensfeier Overture and his Second Symphony. It is also a great pleasure to give an opportunity for the audience to hear the unrivalled playing of Katy Woolley as soloist in Mozart’s best known horn concerto.’
Jonathan Mayes, Director: UK Programme and Creative Projects.

Classical Late:  After the concert wander over to the Cambridge Union bar for a free, fun and informal event with three members of the Philharmona Orchestra (Adrián Varela, Gijs Kramers and Ella Rundle).  You will have a chance to grab a drink from the bar and listen to 45 minutes of music based around Pizzolla's Four Seasons with a little bit of Bach and some South American tango/bossa nova music thorwn in for good measure!  The perfect way to round off your night.

You are welcome to make your own way to the event or you can join a guided group that will be leaving the Corn Exchange foyer 5 minutes after the end of the concert.

Free to concert ticket holders.
