Lauded as the “punk poet laureate”, American singer-songwriter Patti Smith is a legendary icon in the rock n roll world, fusing together poetry and punk rock with revolutionary action, and inspiring a variety of musicians along the way. Smith was an essential figure in the New York City punk rock movement of the 1970’s, co-writing her hit song “Because the Night” with Bruce Springsteen in 1978, and cementing her legacy with her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
