Social housing stock is dwindling rapidly. Workers’ rights are being aggressively eroded by the ‘gig economy’. But it doesn’t have to be this way. New Statesman editor Jason Cowley chairs a panel of seriously informed social commentators: social activist Hilary Cottam, who focuses on community and collaboration; Dawn Foster, who writes widely on housing for the Guardian; and survivor of a series of low-wage jobs James Bloodworth, whose debut book Hired exposes the soul-eroding drudgery of working at the bottom of the employment ladder. They’ll discuss what’s going wrong with social policy in Britain today – and propose some radical solutions.

Chaired by Jason Cowley, Editor-in-Chief of the New Statesman
