Cambridge Music Festival is sorry to announce that Mahan Esfahani is unable to perform his recital in Cambridge tomorrow night due to ill health. CMF did explore possible replacements but take the view that Mahan has a particular appeal (to harpsichord lovers and those who might not normally consider a harpischord recital) that could not be satisfied by engaging another harpsichordist. The Festival has therefore decided to postpone the concert until the New Year, possibly February (date tbc). Tickets for tomorrow's recital are therefore valid for Mahan's rescheduled performance. But if you prefer a refund at this stage, please call 01223 357851 or email tickets@cambridgelivetrust.co.uk.

‘A superstar whose musicianship, imagination, virtuosity, cultural breadth and charisma far transcend the ivory tower in which the harpsichord has traditionally been placed.’ THE TIMES

If you think you don’t like the harpsichord, then you haven’t heard Mahan Esfahani. Passionate yet cerebral, the Iranian-American has won many awards and won over many converts to the instrument. Music by Steve Reich and Kevin Volans contrasts with the full range of Bach’s invention in dance suites and virtuosic toccatas.
