The lyrical, lush yet refined world of Palestrina’s choral music has come to define the sound of the late Renaissance – and nobody brings it to life better than The Tallis Scholars.

But it was not always so: in the mid16th century, Spanish composers such as Josquin and Morales dominated the field of sacred music before Palestrina, working in Rome’s Vatican churches, put Italy firmly at the centre of the musical map. 
 
‘Music for the Sistine Chapel’ recreates that time and its heavenly sounds, including one of the most widely-recognised pieces of its kind, Allegri’s ‘Miserere’, famous for its soaring high Cs.
