Moonlight is a chronicle of the childhood, adolescence and burgeoning adulthood of a young, African-American gay man growing up in a rough neighbourhood in Miami. This year it won 3 Oscars and has been described by critics as “Exquisite, the reason we go to the movies.”, “A triumph of modern cinema.” and “A flat out masterpiece.”.

Enchanted Cinema are back. With 2 years of sell out events already under their belts, this summer they’re popping up in the iconic Cambridge location, The Orchard Tea Gardens Grantchester.

With live music from local musicians before the film, deckchairs under the trees of The Orchards draped in lights, street food, an independent pop-up bar, vintage popcorn machines and blankets… their events are all set to be as magical as ever.

There will be street food available from local vendor Souvlaki Shack. They will be serving their delicious cypriot food. We will also have our independent bar running all night serving drinks, freshly-popped popcorn and brownies. We have food and drinks covered so please leave your picnics at home. Local musician Warren Daniel will be performing an acoustic set from 8.45PM.

We are also very excited to be screening an independent short before Moonlight. We’re showing All the Busy Ings directed by Robyn Wilton. It is a visual depiction of the sensation of being overwhelmed by the powerful yet ineffable interactions between artworks within a gallery space. We hope that you will enjoy this beautiful film as much as we have.

Definitely an enchanting evening. As the sun sets the lovely lighting around the seating brightens and some local Cambridge acoustic sets a beautiful evening up for a joyous night. Drink in one hand and some popcorn on my lap, reclined in a deckchair… my sort of movie night.” - Samuel Benjamin Harris, Artist

Every detail is thought of, the magical lights to the homemade brownies! Love the emphasis on everything being so ‘Cambridge’, the local street food, local musicians. Everything was so fabulous, can’t wait to bring my friends again this summer.” - Londiwe Ncube, Stylist

Each event they did here in the garden of The Gonville Hotel last summer was fully booked and that has to be put down to the unique experience they create for each show.” - Christopher Ogston, Manager of The Gonville Hotel

With a great selection of features, passionate support of local creatives and an abundance of popcorn, this team of friendly film lovers guarantee their audience a unique experience: enjoying the stars on and above the silver screen as the summer sun sets. To simply say it’s enchanting is a cop-out, but a genuine one nonetheless.” - Jonathan Howard, JHFilm
