The Essence of Beethoven

The Creatures of Prometheus Overture Op.43, arranged for string quintet
Piano Concerto No 4 in G major Op.58, arranged for piano and string quintet
Coriolan Overture Op.62, arranged for string quintet
Piano Concerto No 5 in E flat Major Op.73, ‘Emperor’, arranged for piano and string quintet

The Wiener Kammersymphonie is a chamber ensemble which performs regularly in Vienna and around the world. This evening they will play some of Beethoven’s most celebrated works, in reduced format, in key arrangements by Vincenz Lachner that explore the core and essence of the music.

For the Piano Concertos the ensemble will be joined by Freddy Kempf, one of today’s most successful pianists. Exceptionally gifted, with an unusually broad repertoire, Freddy has built a reputation as an explosive and physical performer not afraid to take risks, as well as a sensitive and profoundly musical artist.
