The Goldsmiths Prize was established in 2013 by Goldsmiths University in association with the New Statesman to celebrate creative daring and to reward fiction that breaks the mould or opens up new possibilities for the novel form. The annual prize is awarded to a book that is deemed genuinely novel and that embodies the spirit of invention that characterises the genre at its best. Now in its fourth year, the previous winners are Eimear McBride for A Girl is a Half-formed Thing, Ali Smith for How to be Both and Kevin Barry for Beatlebone. Tom Gatti, Culture Editor of the New Statesman, will be joined by this year’s prize winner and the Chair of Judges, Blake Morrison.
