ZRI stands for Zum roten Igel, the “Red Hedgehog” tavern where Brahms and his contemporaries went to hear gypsy musicians play in Vienna. Recreating the energy and spirit of these performances, ZRI bring their unique Zigeuner energy to performances of 19th century works arranged for clarinet, violin, accordion, cello and santouri, a hammer dulcimer widely used by gypsy bands of the day.
