The Role of Women in Terror - Panel Event

Cambridge Union Society

We woud like to question the gendered nature of women's participation in political violence by assessing stereotypes such as romantic adventurism, naivety as well as the allure of social meda - all of which are commonly portrayed as women's paths into terrorism.  What are the differences between women who support, women who join and women who become actively involved in terrorist groups?   Why are there so many fewer female terrorists than there are male ones?  Since women do not have significant decision-making power in the overall strategy of these groups, what kind of impact do they have?
