Dutch violinist and Festival favourite Tim Kliphuis returns to Cambridge to end the 2017 Festival, this time with his Sextet. The ensemble breathes new life into existing styles with an exhilarating blend of classical, gypsy jazz and folk music. Classically trained and widely regarded as Stéphane Grappelli’s heir, Tim Kliphuis’s improvised sound is totally new, as Django Reinhardt and Duke Ellington rub shoulders with Antonio Vivaldi, Aaron Copland, George Gershwin and many others. Expect musical fireworks and explosive energy from this award-winning group.
