Multi award-winning songwriter, musician, theatre maker and published writer, Karine Polwart - six-time winner at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, including 2018 Folk Singer of The Year - will release a new album ‘Karine Polwart's Scottish Songbook’ on August 2nd 2019. The record draws together interpretations of classic tracks celebrating 50 years of Scottish pop by the likes of John Martyn, The Waterboys and Chvrches. Karine will launch the album alongside a performance at this year’s Cambridge Folk Festival on August 2nd 2019, ahead of a UK headline tour including London’s Barbican Centre on November 27. This follows a U.S. tour earlier this year which included a show at New York’s Carnegie Hall and an appearance on NPR’s Tiny Desk series.

In  2018 Polwart released ‘Laws Of Motion’ on Hudson Records (“Epic, assured and spine-tingling” The Quietus) which was chosen as Mojo’s Folk Album of the Year. A prolific artist & writer, her collaborative projects combine music & storytelling with politics & environmental-societal issues. Polwart wrote A Pocket Of Wind Resistance (a Songlines & BBC Radio 3 Late Junction Album Of The Year) as a musical companion to her critically acclaimed one-woman theatre show Wind Resistance which debuted at the Edinburgh International Festival with a three week sell-out residency at the Lyceum Theatre and won a New Music Scotland Award for its innovative blend of folk music, spoken word & sound design.
