Spooky creative writing contest

Gunpowder, treason and plot . . . Guy Fawkes himself is coming to Cambridge!

Guy Fawkes has returned from beyond the grave to work with Cambridge Live and Snail Tales on our Spooky Creative Writing Contest and visit schools and youth organisations in preparation for our Bonfire Night celebrations!

We are encouraging children from schools and youth organisations around Cambridge to enter our Spooky Creative Writing Contest!

Who can enter?
The contest is free and open to all Cambridge based children. Children aged up to 14 years of age may enter. There will be 3 judging categories based on the age of the entrants.

How do I enter?
To enter, submit a poem or rap of 10 - 40 lines.  The winning entries will be read out at this year’s Bonfire Night celebrations and creative prizes and treats will be awarded! Please submit entries to spookypoem@cambridgelivetrust.co.uk. Remember, remember to include your name, youth organisation/school and class, age, contact email and phone number when submitting your poem so we may contact the winners. The deadline for entries is 5pm on Tuesday 1 November.

Workshops

Special writing workshops on spooky poetry are available to book between Monday 3 October and Friday 11 November, and Guy Fawkes is available to visit schools to share the stories of the Gunpowder Plot. Please visit the Snail Tales website to make a reservation.
