In his latest book, he turns his attention to the Vietnam war, considered by many a tragedy for America – yet for every American that died in the war, 40 Vietnamese people were killed. Conversely, while everyone remembers the screaming girl seared by napalm, few have memories to match of the beheadings carried out by the communists. Hastings has spent the past three years interviewing many people on both sides of the war to create an epic narrative of an epic struggle. He’ll weave a deeply personal story of the war, introducing testimonies from warlords and peasants, statesmen and soldiers.
