In the grand finale of the 2016 Festival, distinguished conductor Tim Brown directs the CSM Festival Chorus and Orpheus Sinfonia in a performance of Rossini’s masterful and spectacular Stabat Mater. Written late in Rossini’s life and over ten years, this heartfelt setting of the well-known Christian poem owes much to the composer’s career in opera while nevertheless demonstrating a rigorous contrapuntal technique. With rousing bombast astride lyrical introspection, this will be a Festival finale to remember!

“Sarah-Jane Brandon – what a voice! Brandon set her arias ablaze with her shimmering, golden and ultimately dazzling voice.” Huffington Post, 2012

“The sweeping energy and rich detail of Tim Brown’s interpretation draw out the best from his young performers.” Classic FM, 2009
