Afternoon workshops are for young people who are aged between 11-18 led by the artists who are performing at the festival. In recent years we have been lucky to have masterclasses by some brilliant musicians including Sam Sweeney, Darlingside, Rhiannon Giddens and Le Vent Du Nord.
The Hub Band
The Hub Band Project is a series of workshops at The Hub youth music area, where, led by 4 fantastic tutors from the world of folk and roots music, around 20 young musicians (14-18 years) collaborate with one another, forming The Hub Band. This culminates in a performance by The Hub Band on stage in the Club Tent on the Sunday evening. It is aimed at those into traditional music from around the world (either individuals or bands) who have already bought tickets for the Festival, plus each year we have a limited number of free tickets to offer to young people in order to take part.
In the spring we will open applications for The Hub Band and we particularly want to hear from instrumentalists, those who love playing or singing in sessions and have a passion for traditional songs and tunes.

IMPORTANT: Ticket winners will be selected according to the strength and suitability of their music by a panel of music industry professionals. Under 18’s will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult. These tickets are extremely limited. If you wish to attend the Festival and take part in The Hub Band project regardless of whether you win free tickets or not, you should buy them in the normal manner when they go on sale, before they sell out. For more info, contact Hazel.Beale@cambridgelivetrust.co.uk
The number of young people participating in The Hub Band will be limited to 20 to ensure everyone can make the most of the experience. Limited sign up spaces are available at the Festival. However, if you miss the sign up you will not be able to attend. In order to avoid disappointment please make sure you arrive in plenty of time, sign ups start at 11am on Friday at The Hub area and spaces fill up very quickly! This is a weekend long project and you must commit to all sessions in order to be eligible for the performance in the Club Tent on the Sunday.
